Chapter 1: Development and Use of Internet Infrastructure Resources

Internet infrastructure resources are essential to the integration of the real and digital economies. In 2025, China continued to expand the supply of these resources, deepen large-scale IPv6 deployment and application, and maintain steady development in domain-name numbers. This strengthened the foundations for closer integration of the real and digital economies across a wider range of activities.

1 Development of internet infrastructure resources

By December 2025, China had approximately 356.50 million IPv4 addresses [1], 70,215 /32 blocks of IPv6 addresses [2], and 850 million active IPv6 users. The country had 32.30 million domain names, including 20.77 million .CN domains and 160,000 .中国 domains. Worldwide, there were 21.59 million .CN domains and 170,000 .中国 domains. Broadband internet access ports totalled 1.251 billion.

1.1 IP addresses

By December 2025, China had 70,215 /32 blocks of IPv6 addresses. An analysis of IPv6 support among 23 major public recursive DNS services worldwide found that 14 offered public recursive services over IPv6, approximately 60.9% of the total.
